Airtel Nigeria has introduced a new tariff tagged “Ovajara.” This plan might just be what Airtel customers need because of what it has to offer and in this article, we’ll try our possible best to go through every bit of information you need to know about this tariff.
First of all, the Ovajara plan is the new default plan that comes with any newly purchased Airtel SIM cards. This spot was originally held by the SmartCONNECT plan but after going through what this tariff has to offer, you will find out that they (Ovajara and SmartCONNECT) may just be the same thing.
The benefits this tariff, Ovajara has to offer are:
- 800% bonus on every recharge of N100 and above: 400% of the bonus will be used for national voice and SMS. While 300% of the bonus will be used for data on all websites etc.
- N1000 SIM activation bonus: N800 for National calls/SMS and N200 for all data activities.
- 100% data bonus on select data plans.

The airtime bonus is valid for 7 days after which all unused bonuses will clear. If you recharge again before your bonus expires, you will receive another bonus but all bonuses received will expire separately on their respective day of expiry.
How to join the Airtel Ovajara tariff plan
Buy a new SIM, register and activate it and then select the Airtel Ovajara tariff plan from the USSD menu that will be displayed. However, if you fail to choose a tariff plan, you will be migrated to the Ovajara plan by default. However, you don’t need to be a new customer before you can join this tariff. Old customers should dial *544# to opt-in.
For the new customers, after registering and activating their newly purchased SIM cards, customers will be automatically onboarded on the Ovajara plan and will be rewarded instantly with the N1,000 activation bonus. The N1,000 SIM activation bonus gives customers N800 for national calls and N200 for all data activities, including an additional 100 per cent data bonus on select data plans. The N1000 SIM Activation bonus will be valid for 7 days from the date of SIM activation but the unused bonus will be cleared after 7days.
