The final version of Android 12 has been available for weeks on AOSP, but Google has officially rolled out its new version and is available for download on Google Pixel 3 and up. Here is the list of phones eligible to download and install the new Android 12 OS:

  • Pixel 3
  • Pixel 3A
  • Pixel 4
  • Pixel 4A
  • Pixel 4A 5G
  • Pixel 5
  • Pixel 5A
  • Pixel 6
  • Pixel 6 Pro

In a blog post, Google said,

“Today we’re pushing the source to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and officially releasing the latest version of Android. Keep an eye out for Android 12 coming to a device near you starting with Pixel in the next few weeks and Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi devices later this year”.

The most noticeable feature in Android 12 is the new Material You design, which lets you go a little deeper to tweak the look of the home screen to your liking. It’s more expressive than previous versions of Android, with tools to let you coordinate colours that can extend across app icons, pull-down menus, widgets, and more. Speaking of widgets, many of those have been updated to match the new look, and Google shared today that by the end of October, it plans to have over a dozen new or refreshed widgets available for its first-party apps.

There are other amazing features in Android 12 and Pixel phones will likely receive several more “Pixel-first” features in the future with Android 12.

You can download and install Android 12 on your Pixel smartphone manually by going to System > Advanced > System update > Check for update.

Android 12 will roll out to other phone brands in the coming future. If you are a huge fan of Xiaomi devices, you can check out this list of Xiaomi devices to receive the Android 12 update.
