After taking its toll on WhatsApp, Facebook has decided to introduce a forwarding limit in Messenger in a bid to fight misinformation. With this new feature, you can only forward a message to five people or groups at a time. Facebook says that it will slow the spread of viral misinformation and harmful content.
“Today, we’re introducing a forwarding limit on Messenger, so messages can only be forwarded to five people or groups at a time. Limiting forwarding is an effective way to slow the spread of viral misinformation and harmful content that has the potential to cause real-world harm.” Facebook said in a blog post.
This same feature got introduced to WhatsApp in April and says doing so limited the spread of frequently forwarded messages. WhatsApp saw a 70 percent decrease in message forwarding around the world.
