It’s really great to see how data is being made cheap by the telco operators in Nigeria, at least no one will be able to complain about the cost of data for now.
Airtel Nigeria is one of the biggest telecom operator in the country that boasts of having excellent call rates but when we talk about data, it’s a big miss. Airtel has actually made data cheap for some of their customers by offering them double the amount of data that they purchase on their Airtel SIM.
How do I mean if you may ask? Instead of getting 750MB data worth N500 on your Airtel SIM card, you can actually stand a chance of getting 2X the amount of data for the same price on your Airtel SIM card. We can call this the “Double Data” offer from Airtel, I believe that it is available to only selected Airtel customers. This means that it depends on if you are eligible or not.
How to get 1.5GB for N500, 3GB for N1000, 7GB for N2000 on Airtel
Before you rush into anything, don’t purchase any airtime yet on your SIM card. First dial *141# on your Airtel SIM card and find out if you are eligible for the double data offer. When you dial the code and see something like this in the picture below,
just know that you are eligible, but if you see anything different from that, know that you are not part of the lucky Airtel users that can get double data.
How to qualify for the double data offer is really a big question because from my observations, I believe that Airtel randomly selected the SIM cards that are eligible for it. So what I’m trying to say is that, whether your SIM card is an old one or a new one doesn’t necessarily determine that you cannot be eligible, it’s just based on luck. Try to dial the code and see.
