How to get a Google Voice number in Nigeria

Google Voice is a telephone service that provides call forwarding and voicemail services, voice and text messaging, and the U.S. and international call termination for Google Account customers in the U.S. and some selected countries.

There is no mention of Nigeria in the list of countries supporting Google Voice account creation, so your question should be, is Google voice available in Nigeria has an answer already.

For this reason, I will write this article to show you how to get a google voice number in Nigeria, but before we get to that, here are some excellent reasons why you should own a Google Voice account anywhere in the world;

• Place and Receive Calls on Your Phone Over Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, Google doesn’t yet provide a way to send and receive calls from your phone over Wi-Fi, probably because they’re worried about angering the carriers.

Without further ado, I want to dive into today’s tutorial and show you how to easily create a Google Voice account and verify it in Nigeria or any country that does not support Google Voice’s creation.

How to get a Google Voice number in Nigeria

First and foremost, have a U.S. phone number because you will need it later for verification purposes. You can learn how to create a United States number free of charge from this article. Second, after owning your own USA, you will need to have a good VPN. The only VPN apps that I can recommend are TunnelBear VPN – download here.

After downloading the TunnelBear VPN, connect the VPN to the internet, and launch your web browser, preferably Google Chrome. Next, type voice.google.com in the address bar and click enter to go to the website.

When the website opens up, click Personal Use >> Web. This action should take you to the signup page where you would need to choose a “Google Voice number,” you can decide to skip this, but there is no need for that since you will get a free Google voice number.

You will be shown three areas to get a Google number from in the drop-down list, select any one area of your choice, and choose any number that shows immediately after that.

Here is where you will require the U.S. number you created using the tutorial I linked above. In this step, you need to enter a number to link to the Google Voice number, type in the U.S. number and click Send Code. You should receive the code immediately, type in the code in the space bar, and click verify. The code is always a 6-digit number. When you’ve verified it, you will see something like in the picture below.

That is how you can create a Google Voice account and now number and verify it in Nigeria or any country that is not readily available to develop it.
