YouTube is the most popular online video-sharing platform. YouTube allows users to upload, view, rate, share, add to playlists, report, comment on videos, and subscribe to other users. Being a creator has its benefits if you already earn advertising revenue from Google AdSense. Sometimes, things don’t go according to plan for some people and this is where this tutorial comes in.
If you don’t have the patience to meet up with the minimum requirements that would enable you to start earning from YouTube, you can learn how to transfer ownership of a YouTube channel from one email to another as it is very important if you decide to sell your channel for a reasonable amount and make some cash out of it one day.
The only way you can transfer ownership of a YouTube channel is by allowing another email address to have access to your channel and we’ll cover all of that in this article but to save you the stress and time of reading the lengthy stuff that we’re going to cover, you can quickly watch this short video tutorial on how to transfer the ownership of a YouTube channel in just 3 minutes.
How to transfer ownership of a YouTube channel
Go to youtube.com, navigate to your channel dashboard and go to your YouTube studio using a PC. If you’re using a mobile device, ensure that the mode is turned to the desktop mode for this to work. When you arrive on your YouTube studio dashboard, click Settings, a popup screen will show, when you see this, look for Permissions and tap on it.
Now that you’ve arrived at the permissions menu, click INVITE, enter the new owner’s email address and select their access role on the channel. Here are the following roles that are currently available;
- Manager: Can add and remove others, edit everything. Can’t delete the channel.
- Editor: Can edit everything. Can’t add or remove others, delete videos or the channel, or enter into contracts.
- Viewer: Can see everything. Can’t edit anything.
- Viewer (limited): Can see everything except revenue information. Can’t edit anything.
Since you’re transferring the channel ownership, you need to set the role to that of a Manager. When you select the role, click DONE. It’s time to check the mailbox of the email address you sent an invitation to and you will see an invitation message from YouTube just like in the screenshot below, click and accept the invitation.
Ensure that you use PC to accept the invitation, if you use an Android or iOS device, it will redirect you to YouTube app then to your browser and lastly, ask you to download YouTube Studio. You don’t need to go through that stress just use a PC and when you click the accept invitation button, you will be taken to the YouTube page and see something like this. Here on now, the other email address has access to the channel. If the added email address has another channel that it owns or manage, you can log in to the newly-added channel by clicking the icon at the top corner of your screen, click Switch Account then choose the channel to log in to. That’s all friends. With this knowledge, you can start up a YouTube channel, build that channel and sell it for a good price. I should let you in on something, YouTube channels are pretty expensive and I’m sure that the accounts are the most-valued accounts on social media in monetary terms so be wise.
