MTN Nigeria has launched Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) call service to provide access to the best communications technology and improve the overall customer experience.

The VoLTE is the fourth-generation global wireless communication standard network that delivers the fastest mobile Internet experience. The MTN VoLTE service allows you to make very clear voice calls with reduced background noise that makes even the furthest of persons sound right next to you all because it uses 4G. It also means that should you want to, you can also use data at the same time as you are making your call – without any interruptions.

The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Nigeria, Adia So said, “With VoLTE, MTN Nigeria continues to enhance Nigerian lives with innovative technology.  VoLTE is free to access today at your rates, from a VoLTE-enabled smartphone so you can call and surf at the same time with no interruptions ever again. We move!”

The main benefit of using this VoLTE is that you get to enjoy very clear voice calls and a shorter call set-up time. In addition, you will also be able to with reduced background noise – while also being able to use mobile data at 4G speed even during phone calls.

For now, the eligible smartphones for this VoLTE service are Tecno Phantom X, Infinix Zero X and Infinix Zero X Pro smartphones. Other device models from Samsung, Nokia, Apple, Tecno, etc. will be supported soon. To enjoy this service, customers need to:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select SIM & Network settings.
  • Select the MTN SIM and scroll down to “Preferred network type.”
  • Select 2G/3G/4G auto as the preferred network type.
  • Toggle on “4G Calling.”
  • Restart your device to complete the provisioning process to start making VoLTE calls.

There is no code to dial or SIM to buy to opt into the VoLTE service. Your number has been specially provisioned for VoLTE and the service is currently only available to Tecno Phantom X and Infinix Zero X and Infinix Zero X Pro. Simply restart your device afterwards to complete the provisioning process. However, you have the option to opt-out of this service at any time by texting “NOVOLTE” to 131.
