Multichoice announcement to increase the price of each package on both DStv & GOtv has taken effect from September 1st, 2020, as promised. Despite many customers pleading with Multichoice not to take this step, the SA-owned company went ahead with their plan to increase the price for DStv & GOtv packages.

Reports suggest that the company made this decision after careful consideration of the market and a review of its business operations.Multichoice price increment takes effect for DStv, GOtv

“We have made efforts to contain any price adjustments on subscription prices. However, to ensure the sustainability of the business, we have to consider financial impacts, including inflation, as well as increased content and operational costs. As such, we have reviewed the prices of some of our bouquets so that we can continue to survive as a business and bring quality entertainment to our customers.

“As such, we have reviewed the prices of some of our bouquets so that we can continue to survive as a business and bring quality entertainment to our customers.

“To decide to adjust prices, we took into account many factors, including the impact on the customer, current inflation, which stands at 12.82 percent, the highest in 27 months, content costs and efficiencies within the company.”

“Our packages will continue to be available at varying pricing points to allow subscribers flexibility in price and choice without compromising quality or variety.

“To this end, only the prices of some of the bouquets have been reviewed upwards while the flower bouquets have been left untouched.

“We will continue to give our customers the best experience. The price adjustments will allow us to keep delivering top-quality entertainment experience by telling the best local stories through our series and movies, give you access to nail-biting sporting action and up-to-the-minute news as well as the best international series, movies, and documentaries while ensuring that we offer your children movies and series that will keep them educated and entertained,” it explained.

From this adjustment, DStv Compact subscribers have their subscription raised by 13.3 percent (N7, 900 up from N6, 975). DStv Compact Plus subscribers have their rates increased by 9.8 percent from N10, 925 to N12, 000 while the DStv Premium got increased from N16, 200 to N18, 400 (13.6% hike).

The notification to increase the price came a few days after the House of Representatives summoned the company’s management to explain the last price hike in June.

DSTV are doing disservice to Nigerians because they understand that Nigerians accept anything without complaining but should expect decrease in their subscribers
