We all cannot begin to comprehend how disappointing it is to have been waiting for our plastic National ID cards after going for registration and getting a promise from the officials that you will receive the card soon. All of the talks from them seem to be false, as there are no guarantees that you would get the card.
Anyway, you can now get your National ID card using your mobile phone with the availability of the NIMC mobile app. The NIMC-MobileID, as it is known, is a new suite of Personal Identity tokens and services, developed, administered, and managed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
As we all know that NIN is very important for every individual who owns a SIM card to have as NCC has issued a directive to block all SIM cards which have not been linked to a NIN number. If you own any of the SIM cards, you can see how to link your SIM card to your NIN number:
- How to link NIN to MTN, Airtel numbers
- How to link your National Identification Number (NIN) to a Glo line
- How to link NIN to 9mobile numbers
The MobileID Application issues NIMC on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It serves as a valid means of Identification anywhere a Nigerian (or legal resident) is required to present an ID Token.
It seems stressful to go back to the office where you did your registration since there are no guarantees of seeing your plastic ID card when you get there. However, since you’ve been with your national identity slip containing your NIN (National Identity Number) for long, now seems to be the right time to get the original card from them from the comfort of your home using your mobile app.
How to get your National ID card using NIMC mobile app
As an Android user, after downloading the app, you need to install it manually because you’re not downloading it from Google Playstore but an external source. The iOS users need to download the app, and it will install automatically.
After installation is complete, launch the app and provide your 11-digit National Identification Number (NIN) and a mobile number. You can dial *324# to get your NIN if you cannot remember or find it. Ensure you provide the phone number you used to register for your NIN.
The next step you need to take is to click the Next button at the top-right side of your screen & Read and Agree to the attestation. Fill in a secret PIN, ensure that you use the one that you can remember and tap the FINISH button to conclude everything.
I hope this worked for you. Let us know in the comment section.
