Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G

Oppo has unveiled the Reno5 series with the Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G headlining the whole launch. Both devices are nearly similar in terms of phone build down to software options, but as expected, the Reno5 Pro 5G  device comes with a little extra added feature compared to the Reno5 5G.

Oppo Reno5 5G is built around a 6.43″ panel, while the Reno5 Pro 5G comes equipped with a larger 6.55″ panel. Both are OLED displays with 1080p+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate (plus 180 Hz touch sampling rate), but the Pro display has higher brightness – 500 nits maximum vs. 430 nits.Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G

As for the photography section, both devices come equipped with quad-camera setups at the rear and a single 32 MP selfie camera embedded in a punch hole at the front. It handles face unlock as an alternative to the in-display fingerprint reader.

Both devices feature a 64MP main module with an f/1.7 aperture electronic image stabilization (EIS). It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, plus two 2MP modules. Video recording is capped at 30 fps when shooting in 4K resolution.

Under the hood, the Reno5 Pro 5G is powered by a Mediatek MT6889Z Dimensity 1000+ while the Reno5 5G is powered by a Qualcomm SM7250 Snapdragon 765G as both phones run ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 out of the box.

Both Reno5 devices are equipped with 4,300 mAh batteries, and they support SuperVOOC 2.0 charging, meaning 65W peak speed. They can also use USB Power Delivery and QuickCharge chargers at 18W. Reverse charging is supported as well.

Charging is done over the USB-C port, which doubles as a headphone jack on the Pro phone. Not so on the vanilla Reno5. It has an actual 3.5 mm jack. The trade-off is that the Pro has more advanced wireless connectivity, including Wi-Fi 6 and NFC (vs. Wi-Fi 5 and no NFC).

You can deduce that both devices will support 5G connectivity; however, only the first of the two SIM slots supports it, and there’s no memory card slot.

The Reno5 5G will be priced at US$ 412 for the 8GB/128GB Storage and US$ 458 for the 12GB/256GB storage version, while the Reno5 5G Pro will be priced at US$ 519 for the 8GB/128GB Storage, and US$ 580 for the 12GB/256GB storage version.
