Xiaomi’s sub-smartphone brand, Poco, has seen the release of the third member of the company’s most affordable series, Poco M3. From what you know about it being affordable, you should have in mind that there’s not much to expect from a device like this but the 6000 mAh battery is what catches the eye.
The Poco M3 receives juice from a 6000 mAh battery that supports 18W charging and will even charge other devices at 18W with the correct cable. Poco claims up to 5 days of light use, 3 days of moderate, and a day and a half of heavy use. Some will appreciate the claim of 2 and a half years of use without notable degradation, too.
The Poco M3 grabs the attention with its striking design for a budget-friendly device. It features a mostly uninterrupted screen on the front is contrasted by a large rectangular camera island on the rear. The rest of the rear comes in a textured anti-fingerprint finish and three colors – Power Black, Cool Blue and the flashy POCO Yellow.
Speaking of the display, you can spot a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD with a standard 60Hz refresh rate, sitting under Gorilla Glass 3. The screen has a waterdrop notch up top for the 8MP selfie camera. At the back is a triple camera on the rear, highlighted by a 48MP main sensor with 0.8μm pixels (1.6μm in 12MP binned mode) and an f/1.79 lens. The other two sensors are a 2MP f/2.4 dedicated macro and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor.
Under the hood, the Poco M3 has an 11nm Snapdragon 662 chipset with 4GB of RAM. Storage can be 64GB or 128GB. The Poco M3 comes pre-loaded with Android 10 under MIUI 12 and the Poco launcher. Xiaomi will update the M3 for Android 11 in due time as well.
The Poco M3 goes on sale in the US on Black Friday, November 27. There are special discounted prices at first – $129 for the 4/64GB version and $149 for the 4/128GB model, after the promotion ends, the prices will be $149 and $169, respectively. In Europe sales begin on November 30, prices are €149 for the 64GB model and €169 for the 128GB model.
