After at least 8 years of offering social messaging services for free, a report from Alessandro Paluzzi has suggested that Telegram is moving closer to introducing its premium tier. The hint is provided by a data string that significantly alters the wording of the welcome screen when downloading and installing the messaging app.
You are currently reading “Telegram is always free. There are no advertisements. There are no subscription fees.” However, that text will be replaced by “Telegram offers free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media.” That’s a strong indication that a subscription-based plan is in the works and will be launched soon.
The same developer reveals some of the exclusive features that Telegram will provide to its paid accounts. The app will provide you with exclusive stickers and reactions and a star badge that will appear next to your name in chat lists. The subscription fee is still unknown, but we feel we’ll find out soon.
