The video calling support is a very much anticipated feature on the Telegram app, and despite been four years since Telegram added support for voice calls, it seems they will add the video calling support too.
The video call feature is already available to some certain Telegram users, which are the Beta users. To try out this new feature, you can download the Telegram v7.0 beta APK from Microsoft’s App Center. It will operate with the existing Telegram app on your device, which means you’ll have to login again before you can start using it. However, once you do log in to your account, it will automatically sync your existing chats, and you’ll be able to use it as usual.
If one of your contacts also has v7.0 installed, you’ll be able to start a video call with them. The interface is straightforward with options to flip between front and rear cams, turn off the video, mute, and hang up. Tapping the window in the bottom right switches between the two participants.
According to some sources, picture-in-picture works as well, although some of the implementations are a bit buggy and sluggish. There’s no word on when the feature will be available to all users on Playstore and Apple store, but with the way things are going, it should arrive any time soon.
