WhatsApp is rolling out new “Unread Chats” filter

by Johnson Daniel

WhatsApp continues adding and updating its features list to help improve user experience. The new “Unread Chats” feature coming to the social messaging app which appeared previously as part of a beta update a few months back has started rolling out to all users.

Currently, the iOS app and web version have a new filter that shows unread chats. This option resides next to the search bar at the top. Once the unread messages appear, another chance to clear the filter will also appear. The new filter is in addition to the existing media filters such as Photos, GIFs, Links, Videos, Documents, and Audio. The new filter was visible on both an iPhone and the web.

To view the unread chats, you can simply tap the new Filter icon next to the search bar on iOS and Web. Android users can tap the search bar and then the Unread Chats option for this.

This filter will help you find messages you forgot to open and respond to and will further organize the WhatsApp chats. This feature doesn’t seem to be available on Android but we expect this feature to reach its users gradually.
