WhatsApp is working on a new update that would let users edit a sent message. This is a feature longed for by many users of this app, and after getting the ‘message reaction‘ feature on the app. The Meta-owned messaging platform is reportedly working on an edit message feature for you to ensure that no mistakes are made.
According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has begun work on the ability to edit sent text messages. This way, you’ll be able to correct typos and, if necessary, completely change the message.
This information comes five years after WhatsApp was rumored to introduce a message editing feature. The idea was eventually abandoned, but it appears that 2022 may be the year when it finally reaches users.
The report also includes a screenshot demonstrating how the edit option will function. It has been revealed that the edit option will appear when a message is long-pressed. This option will appear alongside the Info and Copy options. All you’d have to do is click the Edit button, type a new message, and send it again. You can see it below.
It is assumed that there will be no edit history to view all of the message’s edited versions. However, it may be included in the final version of the feature. Furthermore, we don’t know if the feature will have a time limit, similar to the Delete Message option. For those who are unaware, the ability to delete a message after it has been sent has a time limit of approximately one hour. The message cannot be deleted after it has been posted.
It remains to be seen how WhatsApp intends to implement its Edit feature. Because it is still in development, it will most likely take some time before it is available for beta and general users. The Edit option will also be available on the Android, iOS, and desktop versions of WhatsApp.
While we wait f tell us how you would to users, tell us how you would feel after the Edit feature is introduced in the comments below. Be rest assured that we would update you through this medium once it starts rolling out to users.
