WhatsApp has been testing a new feature that allows users to message themselves. After some time in testing, the ‘Message Yourself’ feature has reached some beta testers, implying that it will be available for stable users soon. This is a feature of WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.24.11.
You will be able to open a chat with your phone number using this new feature. Simply select your phone number from the contact list. Your phone number will also have the ‘Message Yourself’ tag to indicate that you can use the feature. Your name will also be prefixed with ‘You’ next to your chat name. Previously, sending a message to yourself via the URL ‘wa.me/91’ assisted in sending messages to yourself.
There is no word on when WhatsApp’s ‘Message Yourself’ feature will be available to stable Android and iOS users. Given that the Meta-owned messaging platform has begun its rollout, this could happen soon, and we will provide an update once it is made official.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has begun to roll out Communities to all users worldwide, allowing you to easily create and manage sub-groups. This will be distributed to all in the coming weeks.
