Picture-in-Picture mode is already available on WhatsApp, as users can watch a YouTube video in PiP mode; now, this functionality may be available for video calls on the platform.

According to WABetaInfo, the PiP mode for video calls is being tested as part of WhatsApp for iOS beta version 22.24.0.79. There’s no word on Android availability.

You will be able to talk to people on WhatsApp video calls while browsing other apps, similar to how you can do while watching YouTube videos in PiP mode. This will make multitasking easier. Check out the screenshot below to see how this might work.

Currently, you can only check other WhatsApp chats while on a video call. If you exit the WhatsApp app while on a video call, the PiP mode will be activated. It is also said that you can use this to temporarily hide your video call view.scrnli 12 7 2022 9 10 21 AM

PiP mode for WhatsApp video calls is reportedly available to iOS 15 and later users. However, according to the report, the feature currently requires iOS 16. This may be resolved once the feature is stable. It is currently available to some beta users.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is planning to improve the app’s search and may soon allow you to search for messages by date. It was recently announced that WhatsApp will prohibit users from taking screenshots of disappearing messages, and now some Android beta users are seeing a presentation sheet for View Once messages that states that screenshots are not permitted.
