Xiaomi’s Poco sub-brand has announced its latest phone, the Poco X3 NFC. As you might have guessed from the inclusion of “NFC” in the name of the phone itself, this is not a device targeting a typical flagship audience. However, it still doesn’t imply that the device isn’t suited to be a strong proposition from a price-performance standpoint.
The Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC smartphone is significant as it houses a giant 6.67″ LCD with a refresh rate of 120Hz and an FHD+ resolution having a 20:9 ratio. Still, on the screen display, it receives protection from a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. At the top of the screen is a punch-hole cutout which houses the 20MP f/2.2 selfie camera which comes with pixel binning.
Moving onto the back of the Poco X3 NFC, there’s a quad-camera setup consisting of a 64MP main shooter which features a Sony IMX682 sensor with an f/1.73 aperture and 6P lens, a 13 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle cam with 119-degree Field of View, a 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter and another 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor for portrait shots.
The Poco X3 NFC is the first phone to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 732G processor however, it is available in two variants with both having 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage capacity with the option to expand using a microSD slot.
The battery is 5,160mAh and can be fast-charged over USB-C at 33W. Xiaomi claims more than two days of regular usage, plus the ability to get a full charge in 65 minutes or 62 percent in half an hour. Other features include decent-sounding stereo speakers, reasonably good haptics, and a headphone jack, and NFC, of course.
The Poco X3 NFC will be available in two colours, Shadow Gray and Cobalt Blue and is going on sale in Europe today for €199 ($235) for a model with 64GB of storage, or €249 ($295) for 128GB of storage. That’s the launch pricing for an unspecified period of time, however — the MSRP is €229 ($270) and €269 ($320). Still, even at the regular prices this is likely to be one of the better-value phones you’ll find in its segment.
