YouTube Premium has launched a referral program where existing subscribers get a shareable code that can ultimately net them a year of free service. 9to5Google reports that users this afternoon are being prompted about the offer after opening the YouTube app.
YouTube Premium grants more features to any user and most importantly, removes ads from videos. YouTube always offers free 3 months premium service as a promotional offer for first-time subscribers and if someone signs up for three months of YouTube Premium with your link, they can get the first three months for $0.99, then the standard pricing of $11.99 per month kicks in. At the same time, you get one free month of Premium for each referral.
The discounted price won’t be available for someone who has signed up for YouTube Premium before and then canceled it later, so you can’t use someone else’s referral link to perpetually get three months for free.
How to join the YouTube Premium referral program
- Open the YouTube app on your device and head to your profile section.
- Tap ‘YouTube Premium Benefits.’
- Scroll down and tap “Get up to 12 months of free service.”
- Copy your unique invite link and share via SMS, social media, email or another available method.
Currently, you can’t generate an invite link from the website or iPhone/iPad app as it is only available to few Android users. This means that, not all Android users would be able to generate an invite link. The offer runs till May 31, 2023.
